In Jind, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) apprehended a data entry operator from Pillukheda Tehsil for soliciting a bribe of ₹4000 in exchange for preparing a loan report. The ACB has initiated legal proceedings against the operator under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Bhagat Singh, a resident of Jamni village, lodged a complaint with the ACB stating that he was seeking a loan for land acquisition. He approached the data entry operator, Ved Prakash, to request his signature on the report. In response, Ved Prakash demanded ₹4000 as a bribe, refusing to sign the report without payment, which stalled Singh's process.
Following the complaint, Inspector Dinesh Kumar of the ACB organized a raid team, appointing Surender Hudda, a block education officer, as a shadow witness. The ACB team provided the complainant with eight ₹500 notes, marked with powder, after obtaining the necessary signatures from the gazetted officer.
When contacted, Ved Prakash summoned the complainant to Pillukheda Tehsil. Upon handing over the bribe, the ACB team swiftly apprehended him and recovered the bribe amount.
After washing his hands, the color turned red, confirming the bribe. The ACB has filed a case against Ved Prakash under the Prevention of Corruption Act and has commenced an inquiry. Inspector Dinesh Kumar confirmed that the data entry operator was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe, and questioning is ongoing.
