Google has announced the acquisition of New York-based cybersecurity company Wiz Inc. in a massive USD 32 billion deal. The company confirmed on March 18 that it has signed a definitive agreement for the acquisition. This marks Google’s biggest cash deal to date with the goal of integrating Wiz into its Google Cloud business. The acquisition is a strategic move by Google Cloud to strengthen its AI-era security and enhance multi-cloud capabilities. Even after the deal is finalized Wizs products will continue to function independently and remain available on major cloud platforms including Amazon Web Services (AWS) Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud. Sundar Pichais statement Google CEO Sundar Pichai confirmed the acquisition in a statement on Tuesday. He emphasized that the partnership between Google Cloud and Wiz will enhance cloud security and boost multi-cloud functionality. Pichai noted Today businesses and governments operating on the cloud are seeking stronger security solutions and more flexibility between cloud providers. Google had its eyes on Wiz for a long time Wiz a four-year-old company headquartered in New York specializes in creating security tools that protect data stored in remote data centers from intruders. Google had been eyeing Wiz for several months. In fact last July Wiz rejected a USD 23 billion acquisition offer from Google. However with this latest deal Alphabet aims to strengthen its position in the cloud computing market which is currently dominated by Amazon and Microsoft. Once the transaction is completed Wiz will officially become part of Google Cloud.
