CBDT said in a statement, efforts are on to collect suggestions and work on simplification of the relevant income tax rules and various forms in line with the comprehensive review of the Income Tax Act, 1961. The aim of this initiative is to increase clarity, reduce compliance burden and eliminate obsolete rules to make the tax process more accessible for taxpayers and other stakeholders. Further, the streamlining of rules and forms aims to simplify tax compliance, improve taxpayer understanding and simplify the document filing process, reduce administrative burden and errors, and enhance transparency and efficiency.
As part of a comprehensive consultation process, the committee constituted to review the rules and forms invites suggestions from stakeholders in four categories, including simplification of language and reduction of litigation and compliance burden.
