Life Insurance Corporation of India offers insurance policies for everyone. Now, the government-owned insurance company has launched a special scheme for women, providing a minimum of ₹7,000 per month. Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced this scheme in December last year. Named Bima Sakhi, this scheme by LIC aims to empower women financially.
The Bima Sakhi scheme aims to recruit 100,000 women within a year to provide rural women with an opportunity to become insurance agents, earn a livelihood, and raise awareness about insurance in villages. LIC launched this initiative to not only create new livelihood opportunities for rural women but also improve insurance access in underprivileged areas of India.
By launching this scheme, LIC aims to empower women and contribute to the broader goal of financial inclusion. The scheme targets women aged 18 to 70 who have completed at least 10th grade. As part of its women empowerment campaign, LIC plans to enroll 100,000 Bima Sakhis in the next 12 months and 200,000 Bima Sakhis in the next three years.
Stipend & Commission: Women participating in this scheme will receive a fixed stipend for the first three years, in addition to the commission earned from policy sales.

Incentives: Women who meet or exceed sales targets will receive additional commission-based incentives.
Training & Support: LIC will provide training and financial literacy support for the first three years. Graduated Bima Sakhis will also get the chance to work as LIC agents and may be eligible for the role of development officer within the company.
Freedom to Work: Women have the flexibility to work under this scheme at their convenience.
