Bunty Mahajan a homebaker turned her life as a celebrity pastry chef in the last 50 years. Her clients include celebrity names like Nita Ambani Mukesh Ambani Amitabh Bachchan Deepika Padukone Rohit Sharma and Esha Deol. Most recently she baked for Nita and Mukesh Ambani’s 40th wedding anniversary. Bunty’s passion for baking began 50 years ago as a hobby inspired and encouraged by her mother. She started by experimenting with recipes and designs first receiving appreciation from her friends and family. One of her early famous dishes was a guitar shaped cake which she made by studying the structure of a real guitar. After her marriage her husband Sunil became her support and encouraged her to pursue her passion. While completing her BA she attended short courses at Le Cordon Bleu in London and Paris. She also took three-week training at London’s award-winning Bachman Patisserie under pastry chef Chris Bachman. Building Deliciae Brand In 2004 Bunty launched The Dessert Cafe in Mumbai introducing plated desserts that were ahead of their time. Seven years later she revolutionized India’s desert scene by introducing her own designer wedding cake collection one of the first of its kind in the country. Twice a year she unveils new collections each with unique themes and colors. Today Deliciae by Bunty Mahajan is a well known name for its artistry and quality. The brand has celebrated a 20-year journey by serving 3.8 lakh orders in the past year alone. Now Bunty’s son Suchit Mahajan expanded Delicias reach by launching its first flagship store in 2016 after 12 foundational years at Out of the Blue. “This marked the rebirth of the Deliciae brand and the beginning of its growth journey both as a brand and a business” Suchit said.
