Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna starrer Chhaava has been making it to the headlines for the past couple of days due to a wrong reason. The film, which has become a blockbuster, is being blamed for violence that took place in Nagpur on Monday amid the protest for the removal of Aurangzeb's tomb. While not many celebs have spoken about it, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has come out in support of Chhaava.
The filmmaker posted, "The #UrbanNaxal ecosystem is waging a cultural jihad against our films—#TheKashmirFiles and #Chaava are under attack because they dare to awaken the nation. Defeat them in this battle."
A netizen claimed that movies like The Kashmir Files, The The Sabarmati Report, and Chhaava polarize society. So, Agnihotri replied to him and wrote, "Before #TheKashmirFiles the society wasn’t polarised at all. Muslim terrorists in Kashmir were helping Hindus find their houses and the corpses of their loved ones. JKLF never existed. See, how in Bengal, Islamists help in bringing down hanging bodies of Hindu women from trees."

On Monday, there was a protest taking place in Nagpur for the removal of Aurangzeb's tomb from Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. Reportedly, the effigy of the Mughal ruler was burned along with a green cloth and soon there were rumours that a holy book is burnt. This resulted in riots, and curfew was announced in many areas of Nagpur.
Meanwhile, talking about the violence in Nagpur, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, "This violent incident and riots seem to be pre-planned. Chhaava movie has ignited people’s anger against Aurangzeb still, everyone must keep Maharashtra peaceful."
Neither Vicky Kaushal nor the makers of the film have spoken up about it. Chhaava is currently running in theatres, and in 33 days, the movie has collected Rs. 567.95 crore. Right now, it is third highest-grossing Bollywood film.
