Tim Seifert Smashes 26 Runs in an Over Against Shaheen Afridi, New Zealand Clinches Victory

The second match of the five-match T20I series between New Zealand and Pakistan took place on March 18, 2025, at the University Oval in Dunedin. New Zealand opener Tim Seifert showcased an explosive batting display against Shaheen Afridi, hitting four sixes in a single over.

Afridi, bowling the third over of the innings, was struck for a six on the very first ball by Seifert, who played a powerful front-foot shot. The onslaught continued as Seifert launched the second delivery over cover for another six. Although Afridi managed to beat him on the third ball, Seifert took two runs on the fourth and finished the over in style with two more massive sixes. In total, 26 runs were scored off the over.

Seifert's Blazing Knock Falls Short of Fifty

Seifert maintained an aggressive approach but fell just five runs short of his 10th T20I half-century. Facing 22 deliveries, he scored 45 runs at an impressive strike rate of 204.55, hitting three fours and five sixes. His innings came to an end when Shaheen Afridi caught him off the bowling of Mohammad Ali.

Shaheen Afridi's Costly Spell

Afridi had a tough outing, conceding 31 runs in three overs at an economy rate of 6.70, without taking a wicket.

New Zealand Secures Comfortable Win

Pakistan, after losing the toss, posted 135/9 in 15 overs in a rain-affected game. Chasing a target of 136, New Zealand reached the total in just 13.1 overs, winning by five wickets. Apart from Seifert's 45, Finn Allen contributed 38 off 16 balls, sealing a dominant victory for the hosts.
