New Delhi: Ravindra Jadeja is ready to make his highly awaited return as he takes the field for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their first match of IPL 2025. The five-time IPL champions will face off against Mumbai Indians (MI) in a home encounter on March 23 with Ruturaj Gaikwad continuing to captain the Yellow Brigade in this 18th season of the tournament. Jadeja starting his 12th season with CSK is poised to make history by achieving a remarkable feat in the T20 league. He has the opportunity to become the first all-rounder in IPL history to score 3000 runs and claim 150 wickets. Since his IPL debut with Rajasthan Royals (RR) in 2008 Jadeja has accumulated 2959 runs and 160 wickets across 240 IPL matches. He is only 41 runs away from reaching the prestigious 3000-run milestone. Jadejas IPL career began with Rajasthan Royals (RR) where he was part of the squad captained by Shane Warne who won the first season of the T20 league. He later played for Kochi Tuskers Kerala in IPL 2011 before joining Chennai Super Kings (CSK) during the 2012 mini-auction. After being kept by CSK ahead of the 2014 mega-auction Jadeja had a short spell with Gujarat Lions in 2016 and 2017 before returning to CSK in IPL 2018 where he has remained ever since. In a surprising turn of events Ravindra Jadeja was appointed CSKs captain ahead of IPL 2022. Despite facing challenges the Yellow Army managed to win 2 out of 8 matches under his captaincy which resulted in MS Dhoni stepping back in as captain midway through the season. Jadeja remained with CSK even after relinquishing the captaincy and played a key role in their fifth IPL title win in 2023. Before the IPL 2025 mega-auction Jadeja was one of CSKs highest earners alongside Ruturaj Gaikwad with both players retained for an impressive Rs 18 crore each. Meanwhile Dhoni was retained for Rs 4 crore in the uncapped category.
