Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inspected the cleaning work of the golden bridge drain on Wednesday. During this, LG instructed all the concerned departments to take concrete steps to clean the drain. At the same time, after inspection CM Rekha Gupta said that the officials have been instructed to complete the work of extracting silt before the monsoon.

The Chief Minister reviewed the status of the drain and the ongoing cleaning work. After this, while addressing the press, he said, 'This is our second visit. When the construction of this drain started, perhaps cleaning system was not planned for the future. During the monsoon, the drainage used to get jammed, which caused the problem of severe waterlogging around. Today, we are here to find a solution to this challenge.

Target of cleaning all drains before monsoon

CM Rekha Gupta said that he is cutting the drain to remove the layers of silt accumulated for years using advanced machines. MCD, PWD, NDMC, Irrigation and Flood Control Department and Delhi Jal Board are also involved in this campaign. The primary objective is to ensure that the problem of waterlogging is not faced during the upcoming monsoon season.

He said that strict instructions have been given to the officers to complete the cleaning work on time. The Chief Minister said, 'This initiative will not be limited to the golden bridge drain, but will extend to all the big and small drains across Delhi. We have made a complete plan and all departments have been instructed to ensure the work of silt in their respective areas.

All departments will have to work together- CM

CM said that all departments will have to work together to make Delhi waterlogging free and clean. We are not just identifying the problem, but also implemented permanent solutions. It is the government's priority to ensure clean, safe and better infrastructure for Delhiites. There will be no stone unturned to solve the problem from the Delhi government.

He said, 'Our MPs, MLAs, ministers and entire government teams are on the streets and are identifying areas of waterlogging and working to remove them as soon as possible.' During this, Delhi Minister Pravesh Sahib Singh, MP Flute Swaraj and MCD, PWD, NDMC, Transport Department, Delhi Jal Board, Irrigation and Flood Control Department officials were also present.
