The Food and Consumer Affairs Department in Jharkhand has become more stringent with the Ration Card process, requiring all Block Supply Officers and Public Distribution System (PDS) shops vendors to conduct E-KYC for every member listed under the Ration Card. The department has made it clear that any individual whose E-KYC is not completed will be removed from the Ration Card list.
In addition, individuals living outside the state must also undergo this verification process.
E-KYC Mandatory For Yellow And Pink Cardholders
The Food Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Department has emphasised the necessity of completing E-KYC, particularly for Yellow and Pink Cardholders. By March 20, all Public Distribution shop vendors are expected to provide a list of beneficiaries to the department. From March 21 to 27, the door-to-door E-KYC process must be completed for every member listed under the Ration Card.
If the E-KYC is not completed, the cardholder will not receive the ration and may potentially have their card cancelled.
According to Dhanbad District Supply Officer Pradeep Shukla, Ration Cardholders residing outside the state can complete their E-KYC at the nearest Public Distribution shops. This facility is available to all Jharkhand Ration Cardholders residing anywhere across India. Additionally, the names of deceased family members will also be removed during this process.
Strict Deadline And Actions Required
Shukla mentioned that the task must be completed by Block Supply Officers and shop vendors without fail. For the E-KYC process, vendors will need to carry a "PASH" machine. If an individual is unable to provide a thumbprint, their iris will be scanned. The district has provided 126 iris scan machines to ensure the process is carried out efficiently.
