Indias first smart industrial city: In a major landmark for Indias growth story Indias first smart industrial city is being built in Dholera Gujarat. In the process of development an international airport is being made in Dholera which will start functioning in July. Along with this a six lane road has also been constructed from Ahmedabad to Dholera for connecting the two major cities of Gujarat. However the most important update that is coming from Dholera is the Noel Tata led Tata Groups Indias first smart industrial city in Dholera. In the recent update from March first week Government of India approved a proposal from Tata Electronics to build a mega semiconductor fabrication facility (Fab) in Dholera Gujarat in partnership with PSMC. The Tata groups fab construction is expected to start its operations this year with a total investment of up to INR 91000 crores. Report also said that the plant is expected to generate over 20000 direct and indirect skilled jobs in the region. Notably Tata Electronics entered the global semiconductor industry with this big announcement. What is Tata Electronics planning to build? Tata Electronics which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons Pvt. Ltd. in partnership with Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC) is building Indias first AI-enabled state-of-the-art Fab. This Fab will have manufacturing capacity of up to 50000 wafers per month and will include next generation factory automation capabilities deploying data analytics and machine learning to achieve industry-best factory efficiency as per a report by news agency PTI. As per the PTI report the new semiconductor Fab of the Tata Group will be used for manufacturing chips for applications such as power management IC display drivers microcontrollers (MCU) and high-performance computing logic. The manufacturing will reportedly address the growing demand in markets such as wireless communication and artificial intelligence automotive computing and data storage. About Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) Talking about the Dholera Smart Industrial City plan the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) is a greenfield industrial planned city near Dholera in Gujarats Ahmedabad district.
