A charred body of an unidentified woman, estimated to be around 35 years old, was discovered at Yeshwanthpur railway station premises.

The body was found near the tracks towards Tumakuru from Platform 1. The victim’s face was wrapped in a plastic cover before petrol was poured over her and set ablaze. As a result, her face, hands, legs, and abdominal region were severely burned, railway police reported.

Authorities were alerted around 10 AM on Wednesday, following which railway police arrived at the scene for inspection. The body has been sent for post-mortem and the identity of the woman is yet to be ascertained.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the crime occurred at the same location, ruling out the possibility of the body being dumped from elsewhere.

A case has been registered at Yeshwanthpur Railway Police Station, and an investigation has been initiated. Karnataka Railway SP Dr. S.K. Soumya Latha stated that efforts are underway to identify the victim and apprehend the culprits.
