World Sparrow Day Celebrations at Indira Gandhi University


(Rewari News) Rewari. The Zoology and Political Science departments at Indira Gandhi University in Meerpur organized various activities to mark World Sparrow Day. The primary aim of this event was to raise awareness about sparrow conservation and encourage students to actively participate in environmental protection.


During the event, Dr. Asha Poonia, an assistant professor from Chaudhary Bansilal University in Bhiwani, delivered a lecture. She elaborated on the declining sparrow population, the necessity for conservation, the threats they face, and suggested measures for their protection.


The program featured several competitions for students, including nest-building, water container, slogan, photography, and documentary contests, with over 100 students enthusiastically participating. Professor Dr. Pankaj Tyagi, head of the Zoology department, emphasized the importance of bird conservation and urged students to plant trees to safeguard the environment.


He expressed gratitude to all students and faculty members. Dr. Mukesh Kumar, head of the Political Science department, encouraged students to engage in activities that promote a cleaner environment alongside their education.


The event was attended by faculty members including Dr. Shruti Tyagi, Dr. Priya Kumari, Dr. Deepti, Dr. Amit Kumar, Dr. Monica Yadav, Dr. Baljeet Yadav, and Dr. Sunil Kumar, along with all students from the department. Winners of the competitions were awarded certificates in recognition of their achievements.
