Oil marketing companies (OMCs) had on March 1 hiked the commercial LPG cylinder rates by Rs 6 as part of its monthly rate revision practice. There was, however, no change in prices of domestic LPG cylinders used for household needs. 
The prices of 14.2 kg domestic gas cylinders have remained unchanged for several months now. There has been no change in domestic LPG cylinder rates since August 2024. As per the latest rates, a 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder costs Rs 803 in New Delhi, Rs 829 in Kolkata, Rs 802.50 in Mumbai. 
Has the government announced to provide cylinders to LPG consumers at Rs 500 per cylinder in various states? Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas Suresh Gopi has shared a clarification on the same. 

Domestic LPG Cylinder Price in Delhi Just Rs 500? 

“India imports about 60% of the domestic LPG consumed. Price of LPG in the country is linked to its price in the international market,” he said in a written response in Lok Sabha. While the average Saudi CP (international benchmark for LPG pricing) rose by 63%, the effective price for PM Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) consumers for domestic LPG was reduced by 44 per cent. 
As per the 44 per cent price cut, the rate of 14.2 kg LPG gas cylinder was cut from Rs 903 in August 2023 to Rs 503 in February 2025, union minister Gopi stated. 

Domestic LPG Cylinder Price in Delhi 

Currently, the retail selling price of a 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder is Rs 803. “After a targeted subsidy of Rs 300 per cylinder to PMUY consumers, the Government of India is providing 14.2 kg LPG cylinders at an effective price of Rs 503 per cylinder (Delhi price),” the minister clarified. 
This is available to more than 10.33 crore Ujjwala beneficiaries, across the country. Other than this, a few state governments are providing some additional subsidy on LPG refills and bear the additional cost from their respective budgets.
