A Major Update Brings Enhanced AI Chatbot Features to WhatsApp

A new update has been rolled out for WhatsApp users, allowing OpenAI’s ChatGPT to accept image and voice message inputs. According to recent reports, this upgrade will significantly improve user interaction with the chatbot. Previously, ChatGPT on WhatsApp was limited to text-based queries. However, with this latest enhancement, users can now send images and voice messages to receive AI-generated responses. The update has been globally released and is already accessible to WhatsApp users worldwide.

ChatGPT Expands Capabilities on WhatsApp

Similar to Meta AI, ChatGPT is now available on WhatsApp with expanded functionalities. OpenAI had launched the official ChatGPT chatbot number for WhatsApp in December 2024, enabling users to interact with AI using text messages. Initially, this feature was restricted to text-only inputs. However, the latest update enables ChatGPT to process images and voice messages shared by users, making AI-powered conversations more interactive and efficient. Despite this expansion, the chatbot continues to reply using text-based responses only.

How to Use ChatGPT on WhatsApp

To interact with ChatGPT using text, images, or voice messages, follow these simple steps:

  1. Save the official ChatGPT chatbot number: +1-800-242-8478

  2. Restart your WhatsApp app after saving the number.

  3. Search for the ChatGPT contact in your WhatsApp contact list.

  4. Start a conversation by sending a text, image, or voice message.

  5. Receive AI-generated responses, based on your queries.

Interestingly, users have also tested voice message transcriptions in Hindi, and ChatGPT has accurately processed and responded to them. However, as this feature is still in its early stages, some lag has been reported while processing certain queries.

Future Enhancements for ChatGPT on WhatsApp

Beyond image and voice recognition, OpenAI is working on additional improvements for ChatGPT’s integration with WhatsApp. Reports suggest that a future update may allow users to log into their dedicated ChatGPT accounts via WhatsApp. If implemented, this feature would enable seamless data synchronization between WhatsApp and the ChatGPT app, allowing users to continue conversations across platforms. While it remains unclear whether additional features will accompany this update, the potential for deeper integration is promising.

With AI-driven enhancements continuously evolving, WhatsApp users can look forward to even more seamless and interactive experiences with ChatGPT in the near future.
