The M60 in Greater Manchester is closed in both directions due to a serious crash. The road is likely to remain shut for some time, National Highways says.

The collision involved several vehicles and took place earlier this evening between J15 (M61) and J16 (Swinton). At least one vehicle is reported to have smashed through the central reservation barrier. All emergency services are currently at the scene.
