Now, according to the data presented by the Finance Ministry in the Rajya Sabha recently, people have lost Rs 4245 crore due to digital financial fraud in the first 10 months of 2024-25.
Recall that there were 2 million (about 20 lakh) cases in 2022-2023, in which people lost Rs 2537 crore. At the same time, in 2023-2024, more than 28 lakh cases of Financial Fraud were reported in which scammers blew up Rs 4403 crore from people's accounts.
The Finance Ministry said that the Reserve Bank of India has prepared a fraud reporting system for payment fraud. Banks, non-bank prepaid payment instruments issues and non-bank credit card Issuers (Issuers) can report the incidents of fraud through this system.
The government said that Sisetan Financial Cyberfrod Reporting and Management System has been introduced to prevent immediate reporting financial fraud and prevent fraudsters from rigging money. So far, on the basis of 1.3 million complaints, about 4386 crore have been saved through this system. Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary told the Rajya Sabha that several initiatives have been taken by the Government, RBI and National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to prevent digital financial fraud.
