Ramesh Chauhan the founder of Bisleri wanted to sell the business he developed for 55 years. The decision he took when his daughter Jayanti Chauhan wasn’t interested in the business.
With 32% market share in Indias mineral water segment Bisleri had attracted big names like PepsiCo and Tata Group. Ratan Tatas group even offered Rs 7000 crore for the acquisition. However Jayanti Chauhan stepped in and rejected the offer deciding instead to take charge of the company herself.
Jayanti Chauhan’s Entry In Bisleri
Before joining Bisleri Jayanti who was more interested in fashion and photography. But after her father’s announcement she decided to go back to the business. Under her leadership Bisleri earned Rs 2300 crore in revenue for the year 2022-23.
Jayanti was born in Delhi where she completed her early education and then moved to Mumbai. Later she graduated from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles and also studied fashion photography and styling at the London College of Fashion.
Leaving her initial dreams of continuing in the fashion industry she joined Bisleri at the age of 24 and started taking responsibilities in the business.
Jayantis Plan For Bisleri
Jayanti also handled marketing and brand management campaigns for the company which developed Bisleri’s positive image. She introduced new products like Rev Pop and Spicy Jeera in cola orange and spiced beverage segments. Her marketing expertise helped Bisleri to establish itself as a brand.
Jayanti personally looks after advertising and communication strategies. She also launched digital and social media marketing campaigns to make Bisleri relevant in a competitive market.
Bisleri Expansion
Under Jayanti’s leadership Bisleri expanded its business into Vedica Natural Mineral Water Fizzy Fruit Drinks and Bisleri Hand Purifiers. She also led the establishment of the company’s Delhi and Mumbai offices. With 122 plants and over 4500 distributors Bisleri continues to dominate India’s packaged water market.
