fans have been switching off in droves and fumed: "I'm done!" on after criticising one specific aspect of the programme. The quiz show, hosted by , airs daily on ITV at 5pm - but recently fans have been left irritated by a series of repeat episodes, "dreadful" contestants and a growing feeling of "not even trying".

Reddit user SpiritofAce took to the social media platform to admit that though they've been a serial watcher for years, "it's just not the same anymore". They penned: "Despite there being hundreds of episodes in the can; we're back to repeats yet again from tomorrow until about September. When the show is having such good ratings they still insist on showing more repeats than in the show's entire history. It used to be new episodes from September to June, with a three month break. What's changed?

"And the contestants... series 17 is without doubt the worst so far. It's like they're not even trying anymore, the casting team. It's all about personality and not about quizzing at all. When you have moaning about it on X, that says it all. Even he's fed up of it."

The user went on to accuse the show of "going through the motions", refusing to "do anything interesting" like introducing a guest Chaser for a series of episodes. They ended their post with the admission: "Sadly... I'm done. I'll still tune in occasionally, but I'm no longer a regular viewer, and I hope more people voice their complaints."

Other viewers chimed in with their own comments, with one agreeing: "Dreadful contestants, low chaser speeds, low targets, no close games anymore (it's either a target of 12 caught with about 46 seconds left or about 18 where the team won by 6 steps), no new chasers and low cash-builders."

But somebody else argued: "I think it's worth noting that they broadcast about 180 new episodes of The Chase every year. It's not like a typical 10-part run of a quiz show. You're unlikely to have caught every single one and the ones you end up catching are those where all four have taken the lower offer or the Chaser fails to catch a target of 15."

Another said: "I've gone back to . Despite the excessive talking, the rounds can still be challenging."
