Highlights
New Delhi. If you live in Delhi-NCR or nearby areas, you must have heard the name of 'Paras Milk'. This brand delivers milk and dairy products to millions of homes every day. Today Paras Milk has become one of the largest dairy companies in India, competing with giants like Mother Dairy and Amul. But very few people know that this business started by selling only 60 liters of milk. The foundation of this company was laid by Ved Ram Nagar, who transformed it into a big brand with hard work and foresight.
Ved Ram Nagar was born in 1933. He started his career as a small milk vendor at the age of 27. In the initial days, he was able to sell only 50-60 liters of milk daily. At that time it was just a small business, in which much growth was not expected. But Ved Ram Nagar developed a deep understanding of this industry and realized that if milk is processed and distributed properly on a large scale, then a big business can be built.
His vision and hard work paid off, and in 1980 he set up his first firm. In 1984, he started a unit for processing milk and dairy products. After this, in 1986, he formed a company named 'V.R.S. Foods', which later turned into a large dairy company.
The first step towards building a big business was
in 1987 when Ved Ram Nagar set up his first big milk plant in Sahibabad, Ghaziabad. This increased the capacity of processing and distribution of milk on a large scale. After this, in 1992, he set up another big plant in Gulavathi. This expansion accelerated the business and the company began to be recognized as a trusted dairy brand.
In 2004, the company moved out of Delhi-NCR and set up another milk plant in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. This allowed the business to expand to other parts of the country as well.
Death of the founder and change of name of the company
Ved Ram Nagar died in 2005. After his death, his sons took the responsibility of taking this business forward. In 2008, the name of the company was changed to 'Vedram and Sons Private Limited'. After this change, the company rapidly strengthened its hold under the Paras brand and also launched other milk related products.
Paras Milk's business is no longer limited to dairy alone
Ved Ram Nagar's sons started expanding the company into many other sectors like healthcare, real estate, education and pharmaceuticals. This created new sources of income for the company and it was established as a large business group.
The family is also active in politics and social service.
Ved Ram Nagar has five sons, one of whom, Surendra Singh Nagar, is a Rajya Sabha MP. The rest of the sons are playing an important role in the expansion of the company. Along with business, the family is also active in social service. Through the Chaudhary Ved Ram Charitable Trust, they are contributing to many social works, especially in the field of education and health.
The network is connected to 5,400 villages, benefiting lakhs of farmers
