Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Police have decided to launch an expanded investigation into multiple corruption allegations against suspended ASI Pawan Raghuvanshi after several persons approached officials with fresh complaints.
Raghuvanshi has been on the run since March 6, when a case was registered against him and three other policemen, including Aishbagh TI Jitendra Garhwal.
As per complaints, Raghuvanshi was deeply involved in illegal activities, including protecting a liquor syndicate, extorting money from gambling rackets and harassing scrap dealers for bribe.
Fresh allegations indicate that he framed innocent persons in a suicide case related to his brother and used his influence to get fellow officers transferred or suspended. Moreover, his wife had previously filed an FIR against him at Piplani police station. Police Commissioner Harinarayanchari Mishra said that multiple teams are working to arrest Raghuvanshi and other accused officers.
Meanwhile, investigations continue into a Rs 25 lakh bribe deal involving Raghuvanshi, Garhwal and two head constables to manipulate records in the Afzal Khan call centre scam. While Khan and eight others have been arrested, some of his family members are still at large.
