Every time a film is made with a huge star cast and massive budget producers and directors have high hopes for the film. Everyone believes that the film has the potential to perform well at the box office. However sometimes the opposite happens and the film turns out to be a huge flop. Similarly a film released in 1980 was made with a huge budget and had 10 actors including Dharmendra Jeetendra Vinod Khanna Vinod Mehra Hema Malini Parveen Babi and more. Despite having a star-studded cast the film failed at the box office and could not even recover its budget. If the movie’s actors did not give you a hint about its name then let us tell you—we are talking about the very famous movie The Burning Train. In addition to the above-mentioned actors the movie also featured Neetu Singh Danny Denzongpa Navin Nischol and Simi Garewal. Did you know that the movie was also offered to Amitabh Bachchan? However the megastar turned it down. As per reports Big B withdrew due to scheduling conflicts that didn’t align with the film’s slot. The movie was made on a huge budget. The action scenes in the film were shot in a real Rajdhani train. Furthermore a major portion of the movie was filmed in Mumbai’s Film City where a special set was constructed. Additionally the films budget increased as 400 junior artists were hired. The movie was inspired by Hollywood’s The Towering Inferno. The film took five years to be completed and also featured special effects for which specialized technicians were hired from Hollywood. Hence at a time when lakhs used to be a big deal in the 80s the movie was made for Rs 25-30 crores. However it managed to collect only Rs 6 crores making it a massive disaster and one of the biggest flops in India.
