After going unsold in Mega Auction, Kane Williamson to make IPL 2025 return but with a TWIST

New Delhi: New Zealand cricket icon Kane Williamson who did not receive any bids during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction will participate in the tournament as a commentator. The IPL 2025 is set to commence on March 22 with the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) facing off against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the opening match at the renowned Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Star Sports has revealed its impressive commentary team for the lucrative league with Williamson set to serve as a commentator for the national feed. Williamson has won the IPL championship twice having been a member of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) team led by David Warner in 2016 and he also played for the Gujarat Titans (GT) during their first title win in IPL 2022. In addition to Williamson former players such as Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan will also participate in national commentary for the prestigious event. The 2025 IPL will mark the tournaments 18th season commencing with an opening ceremony featuring performances by singer Shreya Ghoshal Punjabi artist Karan Aujla and Bollywood actress Disha Patani during a glamorous evening event.
