Drinking Water while standing: Ayurveda says that if water is drunk in the right way, it is a medicine and if water is drunk in the wrong way, it is poison. This is said because without food we can survive for a few days but without water we can hardly survive for two days. Therefore, it is important to know how to drink water. Famous saint of Vrindavan, Premanand Maharaj ji has scolded today's youth for drinking water. He said that most of today's youth do not drink water in the right way. They often open plastic bottles and gulp down water while standing. This has many disadvantages. Drinking water while standing is not the right way. This can cause great harm to health.

Then how to drink water?

Premanand Maharaj said that a person should always drink water while sitting. Water should be drunk with a calm mind. First, the water should be put in a glass from the vessel and then slowly the water should be taken down the throat. By doing this, you will be able to get the complete elements of water. Otherwise it will become useless. It means that you are drinking water but it is of no use to the body. Doctors also consider this advice of Premanand Maharaj Ji to be correct.

Harmful effects of drinking water while standing

In an interview, Dr. Vikramjit Singh, Senior Consultant of Internal Medicine at Aakash Healthcare, says that our body is made up of 70 percent water. Water acts as a medium for the movement of nutrients in our body. In the presence of water, nutrients reach every part of the body through blood and remove the dirt from there. In such a situation, the effect of water is very important for us. This can cause many types of harm. He said that when you drink water while standing straight, the water goes down with force. Its first harm is to the stomach. Water falls into the stomach rapidly, due to which people often suffer from acidity. Drinking water while standing puts pressure on the sphincter (valve connecting the intestine and windpipe, which is a ring-like muscle) of the food pipe i.e. esophagus. This makes it loose and due to this the acid of the stomach starts rising upwards.

Pain in knees and weakness in nerves

Drinking water while standing makes this water move downwards in the intestine rapidly due to which the water is not absorbed properly in the intestine. This disturbs the balance of natural nutrients in the intestine. Not only this, when water goes into the intestine with force, it will also disturb the electrolyte balance of the body. This will have a direct effect on the kidneys because then the water will not go into the kidneys properly and if the water is not absorbed in the kidneys, the dirt will not be able to come out of the kidneys. This dirt will remain in the kidneys only. In such a situation, kidney diseases will occur. The deterioration of electrolytes will cause weakness in the nerves and this will cause many types of damage. Even the brain will be affected.

Pain in knees

If you keep standing and drinking water fast, it will disturb the electrolyte balance due to which the elements of electrolytes will start forming in the joints in the form of crystals. This crystal will cause swelling in the joints and sometimes it will also cause pain in the knees.

How to drink water

Experts say that you should drink water slowly in sips. Always drink water in a calm posture while sitting. Keep a gap of at least half an hour between drinking water each time. But this does not mean that you should drink less water. How much water a person should drink depends on his body, weight, mood and work, but one should drink at least 2 liters of water throughout the day.
