Varun Dhawan made his Bollywood debut in the year 2012 with Karan Johars Student of the Year alongside Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt. The actor rose to fame after its release becoming one of the highly successful actors in Bollywood. His father David Dhawan is a filmmaker and has given several hit films over the years. But did you know Varun Dhawans uncle Anil Dhawan was also a star but stopped working in films long ago? He made his comeback with Andhadhun (2018) portraying Tabus on-screen husband. After this he was seen in his brothers Coolie No. 1 sharing screen space with his nephew Varun Dhawan for the first time. Anil Dhawans cinematic journey began with the film Chetan in 1970 a project that garnered attention for its bold narrative. He subsequently achieved success with Piya Ka Ghar in 1971 and other notable titles like Honeymoon (1973) and Nagin (1976). In addition to his film career Dhawan made a successful transition to television where he appeared in various series further expanding his expertise. He has been a part of famous TV shows like Parpara Kusum Main Lakshmi Tere Aangan Ki Bhagyalakshmi and Meet: Badlegi Duniya Ki Reet. Anil Dhawan became a star in 90s with several directors wanting to cast him in their films. However according to several media reports there was a period in the industry when the era of romantic films came to an end and the rise of action films began. But Anil Dhawan chose not to star as an action hero and continued doing same kind of roles. According a report in News 18 Anil turned down several offers and eventually landed doing side roles. Unfortunately this became an end to his successful career and he slowly started stepping away from the industry. According to TOI the actor once stated that he gets irritated when people talk about his absence from films. I love the fact that some people still like me. But then many times such things are written about me which makes me angry. They say that I am an actor who started with a bang and then got lost. Why would they say that? I have worked a lot over the years. Also how can people forget my contribution to the television industry for 20 years as an actor? Anil added. Anil Dhawan further stated that how the industry is evolving over times hence becoming more difficult to survive. He added In our times even if two films of an actor flopped consecutively you would still get 2-3 more chances. But in today’s times if your film does not work then the producers will not invest money in you.
