Britain's Got Talent has made a triumphant return to our screens with a fresh series, keeping viewers glued with its usual array of Golden Buzzer acts and delightful entertainment, ensuring its status as the go-to programme for Saturday evenings.

This season has also seen a shake-up in the schedule, with weekly installments on Saturday nights and the semi-finals spaced out across weeks, rather than the traditional back-to-back format. The talent spectacle is set to continue captivating audiences with more auditions on Saturday, 22 March.

Judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden, and the newest addition Bruno Tonioli grace the panel, while Ant and Dec deliver their characteristic charm as hosts. However, some viewers can't help but be intrigued by music mogul Simon, who seems to have a new favourite fashion statement.

Throughout this year's BGT episodes, Simon has consistently been seen wearing red tinted glasses, even being photographed with them at various events, prompting fans' curiosity about his eyewear choice.

Addressing speculations, Simon took to his social media to clarify the situation last year, after having to miss two auditions, reports .

He explained on Instagram: "I just found out according to the internet, I have a 'mystery illness'. For anyone concerned, I missed two auditions at the end of one day, two weeks ago, because I do get migraines after long days in the filming lights. PS. This is why I wear these glasses!"

Simon has also revealed the practical reason behind his signature red specs in an exclusive chat with , explaining: "The red glasses are because I have lights in my eyes all day long. It's like a laser and I get migraines and that's like a filter. And they actually do work."

Despite their functionality, Simon doesn't see them as a fashion must-have, humorously adding: "I don't think anyone has ever copied my fashion."

Since November 2023, the trademark red lenses have become part of Simon's ensemble, particularly visible throughout his appearances on Britain's Got Talent 2025 and during each episode of the talent show.

Yet, for those special red carpet occasions, he occasionally forgoes his coloured eyewear for a pair of classic sunglasses.

Britain's Got Talent airs on Saturdays on ITV1 and ITVX
