Indian actress Pooja Hegde has revealed that PR agencies are paid to run negative campaigns against actors on social media.
In an interview with Filmfare, Pooja openly discussed how certain forces deliberately try to defame her. “I felt this many times, and it was shocking for me. I am actually very weak when it comes to public relations.”
She recalled a time when meme pages were constantly trolling her making her wonder why people were saying such negative things about her. “It all seemed very planned. People are spending lakhs just to put others down. When I found out, my parents and I were really disturbed. But I took it positively because if someone wants to bring you down, it means you are already above them.”
Pooja further explained that she kept reassuring her parents that everything would be fine. But after a while, the trolling became too much.
When she asked her team to investigate who was running this hate campaign, the truth shocked her. “I told my team to contact the meme pages and ask what the issue was. They openly said, ‘We are getting paid to do this. If you want us to stop or troll someone else instead, you have to pay the same amount.’ ”
Pooja said this was bizarre because people believe everything without knowing the real story or why she was being targeted. She also mentioned that sometimes she sees hateful comments from profiles with no display pictures or posts proving that they are bot accounts paid to attack her.
Pooja was last seen in the film “Deva” alongside Shahid Kapoor but it did not perform well at the box office. She will soon be seen with Varun Dhawan in “Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai” which is being promoted as a “commercial entertainer.”
