According to ESPNcricinfo, left-arm fast bowler Mohsin Khan will be replaced by Shardul Thakur, an accomplished fast bowling all-rounder from India, who will join the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

According to ESPNcricinfo, Shardul is now in Visakhapatnam with the LSG team after failing to sell at the previous year’s major auction. On Monday, the team captained by Rishabh Pant will play the Delhi Capitals to start the season.

ESPNcricinfo reports that Mohsin tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee on December 31 while competing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

After surviving a career-threatening injury during the 2022 Indian Premier League, Mohsin recovered and took part in the most recent tournament. Shivam Mavi, a fast bowler from Shardul and Uttar Pradesh, has been working with the LSG since the team’s preparation camp began in Lucknow, according to ESPNcricinfo.

With almost 400 runs and 34 wickets at an average of 21.67, Shardul has had a successful run in India’s domestic circuit, helping Mumbai advance to the Ranji Trophy season’s semi-final.

Shardul’s presence will provide the LSG camp with much-needed respite from the ailments plaguing its fast bowlers. In addition to Mohsin, the speed trio of Akash Deep, Mayank Yadav, and Avesh Khan are now recuperating at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru after being sidelined by injury. The pace trio’s anticipated comeback date has not yet been formally announced.

Mayank Yadav, the Delhi star, is recuperating from a stress injury to his lower back. ESPNcricinfo reports that Avesh is recuperating from right knee niggles. Akash is recuperating from a lower back stress injury.

Rishabh Pant (c), David Miller, Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran, Mitchell Marsh, Avesh Khan, Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, Ravi Bisnoi, Abdul Samad, Aryan Juyal, Akash Deep, Himmat Singh, M Siddharth, Digvesh Singh, Shahbaz Ahmed, Prince Yadav, Yuvraj Chaudhary, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Arshin Kulkarni, and Matthew Breetzke are the LSG squad for the 2025 Indian Premier League.
