If you do this, the TTE will consider you a passenger without a ticket and you can be fined. However, this rule does not apply to general tickets. You can travel in another train on the same route.

However, if you have missed the train not due to your mistake, that is, if the train is cancelled, is delayed by more than three hours or the route of the train is changed, then you can apply for a refund.
