Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth the two megastars of Indian cinema need no introduction. Last year both actors collaborated together in Vettaiyan where Rajinikanth played the lead role of Athiyan a senior police officer and Big B made his Tamil debut in a pivotal role. However it wasnt the first time when these two superstars have shared the screen-space together. In 1983 Rajinikanth made his Bollywood debut with Andhaa Kaanoon. Helmed by T.Rama Rao the action drama starred Hema Malini Reena Roy in lead roles with Prem Chopra Danny Denzongpa Pran Madan Puri and Amrish Puri in supporting roles. The film was a remake of Tamil film Sattam Oru Iruttarai (1981). Andhaa Kaanoon also featured Amitabh Bachchan in a cameo appearance. The Rajinikanth starrer turned out to be critical as well as commercial success at the box office. It became the 5th highest grossing film of that year earning widespread recognition for its interesting narrative and stellar starcast performances. Rajnikanth who is considered the megastar of South cinema barely had dialogues in his Bollywood debut film. Still his presence left a deep impact on the audience. Hema Malini played romantic lead opposite Rajinikanth. Their chemistry was widely appreciated by the audiences. According to reports Parveen Babi was first considered for Reena Roys role in the film. However after being diagnosed with serious health issues the actress moved abroad for her treatment. Eventually she stepped back and Reena Roy was roped in for the role. After Andhaa Kaanoon Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth collaborated in Geraftaar (1985) in which Big B had a lead role and Rajinikanth played a special cameo appearance.
