and were urged to "keep Netflix on board" just as The Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed a reported £80million deal with Netflix in 2020 after they stepped down as senior working royals and moved to the US.

Harry and Meghan have so far produced five projects for Netflix, their bombshell docuseries Harry & Meghan, Live to Lead, Heart of Invictus, Polo and most recently With Love, Meghan. Aside from their explosive docuseries, which went viral following its release and perhaps Meghan's latest show, which climbed onto Netflix's Top 10 most-watched shows with 2.5million views, the rest of the Sussex projects failed reach the same level of success. This resulted in several royal watchers questioning whether the deal with the Sussex couple.

Now royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams stressed that the couple should "keep Netflix on board".

He told : "They have to get Netflix and have to keep them on board.

"I think they will get something from Netflix in the future, that seems to be the sign because the head of content at Netflix appeared to be appreciating their efforts in statements so that does imply that something is going to continue with Netflix."

Mr Fitzwilliams added: "I would be amazed if it was anything like what they planned when they first signed the £80million.

"Whatever contract comes up, it appears there's going to be some sort of continuation but it might be peanuts compared to the £80m. Certainly, for the Sussexes, it is far from encouraging."

Meanwhile, Netflix boss Ted Sarandos during a rare interview with Variety.

Mr Sarandos described the couple as "overly dismissed" as he shared his thoughts on Meghan's new show.

Asked if Meghan was the "right person to bet on", he said: "I think Meghan is underestimated in terms of her influence on culture.

"When we dropped the trailer for the 'Harry & Meghan' doc series [in 2022], everything on-screen was dissected in the press for days.

"The shoes she was wearing sold out all over the world. The Hermès blanket that was on the chair behind her sold out everywhere in the world.

"People are fascinated with Meghan Markle. She and Harry are overly dismissed."
