New Delhi: Supreme Court Judge, Justice BR Gavai, who led a group of SC justices to Manipur, has expressed optimism that a solution would come out very soon to the situation in the state, which has been in the grasp of ethnic violence for about two years. According to Justice Gavai, the displaced residents of Manipur‘s relief camps are in a “good mood” and want things to go back to normal.
Justice BR Gavai informed the media report about the trip of Supreme Court Judges to Manipur: “The people in the relief camps are in a good mood and they all want to return to normality and peace. After speaking to both organizations, I have great faith that a fix will surface really soon.”
Earlier, on Sunday, during the duodecennial festivities in Imphal, the group of Supreme Court justices on a visit to Manipur participated.
Judge Justice BR Gavai of the Supreme Court opened the projects and Secretariat of the Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur and other Court structures. During the ceremony, the judges’ delegation visited and spoke with the authorities on attendance.
Arriving in Imphal, Manipur, on Saturday, the five-member Supreme Court Judges’ delegation Arriving in Manipur was the delegation made up of Justices BR Gavai, Surya Kant, Vikram Nath, MM Sundresh, KV Viswanathan, and N Kotishwar. Additionally visiting a relief camp in Churachandpur, Manipur, was a group of Supreme Court Judges.
Justice BR Gavai, Executive Chairman of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), opened new legal aid clinics in Imphal East, Imphal West and Ukhrul districts, as well as legal services camps and medical camps all throughout Manipur.
Justice Gavai remarked during the inauguration that the delegation was here for this occasion and would change the legal assistance for advantage. “For both access to the health care and the fairness principle, it is crucial. Along with the team, I reassure you we stand with you. We have obligations to cooperate for the society. The entire country will unite so that this issue may be resolved,” he said.
