Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India] - March 24: Left-arm wrist spinner Noor Ahmad expressed his astonishment at the remarkable stumping executed by Chennai Super Kings legend MS Dhoni during their thrilling match against the Mumbai Indians in the ongoing IPL 2025.
The crowd at Chepauk erupted in excitement as they witnessed Dhoni's exceptional skills behind the stumps. Displaying his trademark quick reflexes, Dhoni was in top form during CSK's four-wicket victory over MI.
Dhoni showcased his glove work during the 11th over of the first innings. MI's stand-in captain, Suryakumar Yadav, attempted a powerful inside-out drive but misjudged Noor's delivery. Before he could retreat to the crease, Dhoni swiftly dislodged the bails, leaving Yadav stumped for 29 runs off 26 balls.
"My aim was to bowl in the right areas, and getting Surya's wicket was significant. MSD's stumping was extraordinary. Having someone like Mahi bhai behind the stumps is a tremendous support for me," Noor remarked during the post-match presentation.
Noor played a pivotal role in shifting the momentum in favor of CSK, justifying the Rs 10 crore investment made by the five-time champions during last year's mega auction.
His unpredictable wrist spin kept the MI batters on their toes, allowing him to shine in front of the enthusiastic yellow crowd. He concluded his spell with impressive figures of 4 wickets for just 18 runs, earning the Player of the Match title.
"Playing in the IPL feels special. I'm thrilled for the team and pleased with my contribution," Noor reflected on his performance.
After claiming his first wicket with Suryakumar, Noor set a perfect spin trap that MI struggled to navigate. Robin Minz hit the ball straight to long off, while Tilak Varma failed to read the googly. Naman Dhir attempted a sweep but misjudged the ball's path, resulting in a clean bowled.
His outstanding bowling performance limited MI to a total of 155 runs for 9 wickets, which CSK successfully chased down, thanks to impressive fifties from Rachin Ravindra (65*) and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (53), sealing a four-wicket victory.
