The Assam State School Examination Board has cancelled the
HS First Year Examination 2025 (scheduled from March 24 to 29). The decision has been taken due to reports claiming question
paper leak and infringement of protocols. The authorities have stated that further action will be planned in the board meeting happening tomorrow, March 24, 2025.
‘’All Inspector of Schools and Principals of Lead Colleges had received back the sealed packets of question papers of Mathematics, based on instruction issued by the Board and from their reports it is seen that some of the institutions have opened the sealed packets of question paper on 20/03/2025, whereas the examination was scheduled to be held in the second session of 21/03/2025,’’ the official notice reads.
Considering the above, it is assumed that paper leaks in other examinations cannot be ruled out completely since the question papers of other subjects are in Assamese institutions’ custody where exams are being held.
Thus, the authorities decided to cancel examinations of upcoming exams scheduled from March 24 to 29, 2025.
Meanwhile, ASSEB has suspended affiliation of 15 private schools across 10 districts as they reportedly broke the seal of
class 11 Mathematics question paper before time (which led to a leak).
State Govt is set to take action against 3 provincialised schools for breaking rules similarly. As of now, complaints have been lodged and the schools are prohibited from admitting class 11 students for 2025-26.
