Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has launched a special program for school students, named the 'Young Scientist Program'. Today i.e. 23 March is the last date to apply for this program. Students/parents can apply for this special program of ISRO by visiting the official website jigyasa.iirs.gov.in. ISRO has started this program to attract students towards space technology and space science at a young age.
It is expected that this program will encourage more and more students to pursue science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) based research/careers. Students studying in class 9 till January 1, 2025, can apply for this program.
According to the notification issued by ISRO, the first list of students selected for the 'Young Scientist Program' will be released on April 7. Selected students will have to report to the respective ISRO centers by May 19 or by the date mentioned on the registered email address. This program will start on May 19 and will run till May 30.
How to apply?
To apply for ISRO Yuvika 2025, first go to the official website jigyasa.iirs.gov.in.
Then click on the register button and fill in the details.
After that log in to your account and fill out the application form.
Now submit the filled form.
There is no registration fee for this program.
Candidates will be selected based on these criteria:
Marks obtained in class 8th examination: 50% weightage
Performance in online quiz: 10% weightage
Participation in science fair (at school/district/state and above the level in the last 3 years: 2/5/10% weightage)
Rank in Olympiad or equivalent competition (Rank 1 to 3 at school/district/state and above level in the last 3 years): 2/4/5% weightage
Winner of sports competitions (Rank 1 to 3 at school/district/state and above level in the last 3 years): 2/4/5% weightage
Scout & Guide/NCC/NSS member in the last 3 years: 5% weightage
Studied in rural schools located in village/panchayat areas: 15% weightage
Where will the selection be done?
ISRO will select students for the 'Young Scientist Program' at its 7 centers across the country. These centres include the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) in Dehradun, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre in Thiruvananthapuram, Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, UR Rao Satellite Centre in Bengaluru, Space Applications Centre in Ahmedabad, National Remote Sensing Centre in Hyderabad and North Eastern Space Applications Centre in Shillong.
