Roger Federer made a whopping £130million more than Novak Djokovic throughout his entire career thanks to a simple investment move. Over his 24-year career, the Swiss banked over £100m in prize money, whereas Djokovic has made around £144m in 22 years, as he continues to play the sport well into his late 30s. However, even though Federer hung up his racket in 2022, he made almost double Djokovic's career earnings away from the tennis court.

This is thanks to his savvy investment in Swiss running shoe company On Running, where bought 3% equity just before the company went public in September 2021. Due to the lefend's support for the business, its popularity soared and On Running's value rose to £9bn ($12bn).

As shares hit £18 ($24), Federer's investment cut skyrocketed to an eye-watering £277m ($360m) - which is almost three times as much as he made playing tennis, and almost double what has made so far in his career.

The running shoe company told Tennis365 last year about Federer's investment in their business, and praised the Spaniard for continuing his work in tennis despite his retirement. An On Running spokesperson said: "Roger's contribution towards the success and immense popularity of The ROGER Pro is unquestionable and he continues to be one of On's most admired innovation leaders.

"Roger's wealth of knowledge and expertise has been instrumental in every aspect of the performance design and technology adapted to meet the demands of the game."

This news comes as the Miami Open continues with the rest of the round of 32 matches being played today (Monday 24 March), as Djokovic waits to play his round of 16 game against Lorenzo Musetti on March 25. The Serbian has been extremely successful at the Miami Open, and has completed the elusive 'Sunshine Double' on four occasions.

So far, Djokovic has won the Miami Open title six times and has 45 victories in the tournament in total, having also won the Indian Wells Masters in the same year on four occasions. He won both tournaments - known as the 'Sunshine Double' three years in a row, with close rival Federer achieving this feat three times in total in his career.

Overall, Federer won the Miami Open four times and is second in the list of the most wins (56), just missing out to Andre Agassi with 61 wins in the tournament and six titles overall. In terms of the double, Federer has done it three times - one less than his Serbian rival - and he will be eagerly awaiting the next face to join the list of the 'Sunshine Double' winners.

Jack Draper was on course to complete the double after his triumph at the Indian Wells Masters, but fell short with a defeat to Jakub Mensik at the weekend - meaning fans will have to wait another year to see if anyone will join this coveted list of winning both tournaments in the same competitive period.
