Cyber Fraud: On January 6, 2024, a hacker created three fraudulent security accounts in the name of Jungkook. Using these fake accounts, the hacker illegally transferred 33,500 HYBE shares without consent.

BTS Star Jungkook Targeted in Cyber Fraud

K-Pop sensation and BTS member Jungkook recently fell victim to a major cyber fraud incident. However, after legal intervention by his team, justice was served, and his stolen shares were restored.

What Exactly Happened?

According to reports, an anonymous hacker illegally transferred HYBE shares worth approximately 8.4 billion won (~$5.7 million) in Jungkook’s name while he was occupied with his military service.

How Was the Fraud Uncovered?

Investigations revealed that on January 6, 2024, the hacker created three different security accounts using Jungkook’s identity. Through these fake accounts, 33,500 HYBE shares were transferred without his knowledge. Out of these, 500 shares were sold to a third party, while the remaining 33,000 shares were valued at approximately 8.316 billion won.

Legal Action and Justice for Jungkook

In February 2024, Jungkook’s legal team took the case to court. The Seoul Western District Court ruled in his favor, ensuring the return of his stolen shares. Following this event, HYBE’s label, BigHit Music, issued an official statement, reaffirming their commitment to protecting their artists against fraudulent activities.
