Shreyas Srinivasan the Chief Product Officer at Paytm has announced his departure from the company and its ticketing platform Insider.in. This marks the end of his decade-long journey in the tech and live entertainment industry. His exit comes after Paytm sold its ticketing business to Zomato in August 2024 for Rs. 2048 crore. Srinivasan shared the news on LinkedIn mentioning that Monday was his last working day at Paytm while August was his final month with Insider.
In his post he reflected on the timing of his exit stating that when the Zomato-Paytm Entertainment deal was finalized he felt it was the right moment to take a break. He mentioned wanting to focus on his health and explore a new passion to pursue for the next two decades.
Interestingly the sale of its ticketing arm turned out to be a blessing in disguise for Paytm. Despite earlier predictions of losses of up to Rs. 660 crore in Q2 FY 2025 the company surprised everyone by reporting a profit of Rs. 930 crore. This unexpected gain was largely driven by a one-time exceptional income of Rs. 1345 crore from the Zomato deal.
