Salman Khan will be sharing screen space with Rashmika Mandanna for 'Sikandar'. There is a huge difference in the ages of both the actors and Salman adressed it with a lot of swag during the trailer launch of the film. He said, "Phir woh bolte hain 31 years ka difference hai heroine aur mujh mein, arrey jab heroine ko problem nahi hai, heroine ke papa ko dikkat nahi hai, tumko kyun dikkat hai bhai? Inki shaadi hogi, bachchi hongi, toh unke sath bhi kaam karenge. Mummy ki permission toh mil hi jayega."

Singer Sona Mohapatra reacted to Salman's comment as she wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "Heroine aur heroine ke 'BAAP' ko koi problem nahin hai’..to jab inki shaadi ho jaegi &..'permission' like garbage response on being asked about the out of context 31 year gap with his leading lady-the 'BHAI' of toxic masculinity , patriarchy doesn’t realise that #India has changed?"

Netizens have now reacted to Sona's comment as a user made it viral on Reddit. A person agreed to her and said, "It's not even aesthetic now. We (the audience) deserve better. The last scene in the trailer of Rashmika singing lagja gale was just horrible. They have absolutely no chemistry whatsoever!!!" A user said, "A user stated, "I was missing her. This is the longest time she has stayed silent on Bhai. Welcome back, Sona." However, fans also came in defense of both the actors. A person said, "Both Salman and Rashmika are adults to make their own choices. Plus, it's strictly professional. Nothing personal to gross about it. There are many pressing issues in our society to be triggered about that Miss Mohapatra should be worried about."

A person responded to her tweet and said, "Areee what's ur problem, if you have that much problem with him don't watch or listen his statement and if you do pls don't pass ur statement. You do ur job, eat , sleep and make money that's it."

A user said, "This sub is filled with such hypocrites who bash Ranbir even for breathing. But were applauding this shameless misogynist for giving such a deranged statement. The fact that this sub doesn't absolutely hate this guy, but also praises him from time to time, despite having an image of being a feminist sub. It tells very well that people here are just pseudo feminists who only use feminism to bash certain actors."
