has issued another health update days after sustaining a gruelling injury during a charity event for . Last week, the presenter teamed up with his co-star Helen Skelton for a Wheely Big Challenge - a 24-hour roller disco - to raise funds for the charity. The event was going smoothly until the broadcaster took a tumble and was almost forced to withdraw from the challenge with just half an hour left.

Days after the incident took place, the 47-year-old presenter has returned to the BBC daytime show to discuss another ailment, this time with the support of medical expert Dr. Xand van Tulleken. Before taking to the airwaves on Tuesday (March 25), the TV presenter shared the health update with his loyal legion of fans on Instagram.

He confessed: "For 40 years I thought I had a hernia" which the doctor confirmed, insisting: "He did have a hernia but the thing I was picking him up on was he didn't have it chopped off, he had it reduced and mended. So, you had a hernia, you just didn't have it chopped off. It's very confusing, I'm glad you're talking about it on the show".

Gethin took things up a notch when he cheekily asked: "Do you want to see my scar?" which saw his co-star pulling a look of disgust as he bluntly replied: "No, nobody wants to".

It comes after medics rushed to the TV star's aid after he suffered a "massive fall" during the charity challenge. Updating viewers on Morning Live, host Sara Cox told viewers: "Now, this is really horrible.

"Gethin has just had - this is really serious - a massive fall. He's so stiff anyway and just seized up. Genuinely, it was make-or-break whether he could finish the challenge but he's determined to get to that finish line."

The celebrity duo had managed to raise almost £500,000 through their Red Nose Day event on Friday. Following the event, Gethin shared a snap of himself from his bed, still dressed in his sporting attire with his hand on his head as he update fans again.

He wrote: "Just woken up after a few hours sleep. I'm so confused [cry-laughing emoji]. Did not know why I had this top on or where I was! It will take a little while to process the last 24hours.

"I'm BLOWN away by your generosity. I'm emotional about how much this will help people who have nowhere to turn. I think the details are still in the bio. I've not long got my phone back, the ML social team have been busy on here".

In another update, he shared: "I was an absolute mess at the end. I'm [in] a lot of difficulty physically. The order of pics are jumbled, because it's impossible to collect all my thoughts.

"All I know is I'm grateful to all of YOU for supporting and donating and raising over a MILLION POUNDS for @comicrelief. You're so so kind and generous. 24 hours of broadcasting and skating... [mindblown emoji].

"The @bbcmorninglive family are a special group that I cherish. The team gave everything. Led by a woman called @emmamorrismorrismorris - the best leaders step up when they need to, that's Emma. Amazing that the fam turned up to support, very proud of my sis and nephews!"
