However despite having a huge cast and a mega budget the movie turned out to be a huge flop. According to Sacnilk with a budget of Rs 150 crore the movie only collected Rs 84 crore at the box office making it a major failure. Talking about its worldwide collection Kalank earned Rs 146.80 crore globally. The film could not even recover its cost. It was released on a total of 5300 screens—4000 screens in India and 1300 screens abroad. Though the audience appreciated the performances of Sanjay Dutt and Varun Dhawan the storyline failed to capture their attention. The movie is considered one of the biggest flops of Alia Bhatts career.
