Actress Madhuri Dixit made her acting debut in 1984 with a leading role in the drama Abodh. After a string of commercially unsuccessful films she rose to prominence with the action drama Tezaab (1988). The song Ek Do Teen was filmed over several days and listening to it we knew it would be a big hit. When Tezaab was released Madhuri was on vacation in the US. Upon her return to Mumbai a massive crowd awaited her at the airport chanting Mohini Mohini - her character’s name from the film. That was the moment for Madhuri the star. She went on to establish herself with leading roles in some of the highest-grossing romantic dramas of the time including Dil (1990) Beta (1992) Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! (1994) and Dil To Pagal Hai (1997) winning four Filmfare Awards for Best Actress. Other major hits from this period include Ram Lakhan and Tridev (both 1989) Saajan (1991) Khalnayak (1993) and Raja (1995). The man behind Madhuri Dixits success A significant part of Madhuri’s success can be credited to her longtime manager Rikku Rakesh Nath who was the driving force behind her career for nearly three decades. He had been with her since her debut in Abodh and managed her for 28 years. However in 2012 they parted ways after Madhuri who had by then moved to the US chose to sign with a talent management company at the behest of her husband Dr. Sriram Nene. Reportedly the split was due to Rikkus interference in Madhuri’s personal life though the actress maintained a dignified silence on the matter. Later there were claims that Dr. Nene personally oversaw Madhuri’s projects and fee negotiations. Rikku Rakesh Nath hailing from a film family also produced movies like Yaarana Dil Tera Aashiq and Mohabbat. His son Karan Nath and daughter Dakshina are also actors.
