Picking up and dropping off passengers from different sites would no longer be simple for buses with All India and tourist licenses. The enforcement teams of the transport department have been instructed to take strong measures to prevent similar infractions. In this respect, all RTOs, ARTOs, and PTOs have received strict orders from Transport Commissioner Brijesh Narayan Singh.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has emphasized the need to stop unlawful transportation and vehicle overloading, and he has given staff strict instructions to follow government guidelines.

Since several complaints have surfaced about buses operating under All India and tourist licenses picking up passengers without permission, the transport department has stepped up its enforcement in response to these directives.

An exemption permits bus operators to engage in individual contracts by paying a charge of Rs 3 lakh, even though these vehicles were initially allowed to operate on a point-to-point booking basis.

Although this clause allows for seat-wise reservations under the permit, operators have taken advantage of it to unlawfully pick up people. Manipulated paperwork is produced to support the practice under certain contracts, even during inspections.

Since these commercial operators collect fees from individual passengers without providing tickets, this persistent behavior is costing the state-run roads millions of rupees every day.

The transport agency will respond by taking strong measures against both overloaded cars and unauthorized passenger pickups. The illegal bus stands that are present across the state, especially in Lucknow, will also be dismantled.
