The state’s sex ratio has improved noticeably as a result of the UP government’s diligent efforts to drastically reduce female foeticide. The most recent statistics from the state government indicate that there are now 1,020 women for every 1,000 males. The ratio is 985 women for every 1,000 men in urban areas and 1,037 women for every 1,000 men in rural areas.
Important social programs like the Kanya Janmotsav Yojana have been instrumental in this constructive change. Established under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign, this initiative has so far held 3,822 events around the state, commemorating the birth of 35,489 girls and creating an atmosphere where a girl’s birth is celebrated with pride and happiness.
Additionally, the state government has launched a number of programs aimed at improving girls’ safety, health, and education. One of the most notable of them is the Chief Minister’s Kanya Sumangala Yojana, which offers financial aid from birth to higher education to approximately 23 lakh females.
Maternal, baby, and neonatal death rates have significantly decreased as a consequence of initiatives to enhance healthcare for women and children. Additionally, almost two lakh beneficiaries—including women and children who are malnourished and severely poor—have received necessary nourishment via the supplemental nutrition program.
The state’s girls will have a better and healthier future thanks to the government’s ongoing efforts to promote social transformation.
