Some pre-conceived notions often float among people that if a movie is made on a huge budget or features plenty of actors then the guarantee of the films success and revenue generation becomes higher. However sometimes the outcome is completely the opposite. Similarly the film we are talking about had three of the biggest names in the Bollywood industry. However despite that the movie was a huge disaster on the big screen.
Made for Rs 5 crore the movie was unable to recover its budget. With a star-studded cast including Dharmendra Sunny Deol and Vinod Khanna the film was considered a huge flop. Furthermore one of the reasons for the movies failure at the box office was an actor who also featured in the film. The movie in question is Kshatriya.
Directed by J.P. Dutta the movie featured Sunil Dutt Vinod Khanna Dharmendra Sanjay Dutt Sunny Deol Rakhee Meenakshi Seshadri Divya Bharti Sumalatha and Raveena Tandon. The film was well-received by the audience and its songs were also hits. However it struggled at the box office and barely managed to recover its budget.
Talking about the movies box office performance it opened with Rs 45 lakh. However screenings were halted due to Sanjay Dutts involvement in the 1993 Bombay bombings case. As a result the movie witnessed a massive decline. Sanjay was later arrested in the case and after that the movie never took off.
As a result the movie was only able to earn Rs 2.5 crore.
