Eid-ul-Fitr Preparations: On Wednesday, Prashant Kumar, the Director General of Police (DGP) for Uttar Pradesh, released a statement outlining preparations and rules for the holiday. New customs for Eid-ul-Fitr and Alvida Namaz are strictly prohibited, according to the top cop’s edict. He oversaw heightened monitoring in the state’s most vulnerable locations.
The use of drones for surveillance
According to an official statement released by the police chief, riot control measures will be completely prepared, drone cameras will be used for vigilance, and antisocial elements will be constantly watched.
Kumar said that security plans should be based on a well-structured zone and sector strategy in a directive sent to all top police officers across the state.
Police officers, particularly magistrates and senior officers, must be deployed in sufficient numbers to clearly identify sensitive and very sensitive regions.
It said that he issued a warning that no new traditions or practices would be permitted and that any efforts to implement them should be promptly halted.
It also said that officers have been requested to update databases of those with a history of intercommunal conflicts and, if required, take precautionary legal action.
In order to preserve tranquility, local police have been entrusted with interacting with members of the peace committee and religious leaders and requesting their assistance. To ensure a visible police presence, senior officials must make field visits to strategic places. Police officers from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), and the police force itself are to participate in flag marches.
Additionally, the DGP has emphasized the need for routine foot patrols in busy locations and markets, backed by anti-sabotage inspections with sniffer dogs and bomb disposal units. According to the statement, fire safety precautions must be taken in crowded commercial areas, and Quick Response Teams (QRTs) will be positioned at key locations.
It also said that officials have been instructed to maintain very active intelligence networks and to take seriously even little information.
Keeping an eye on social media
Strict social media monitoring has been mandated in order to stop false information from spreading.
Kumar gave the order that any inaccurate or deceptive information be removed right away and that if necessary, legal action be taken. While CCTV installations must be made in strategic locations, security services will also utilize drone cameras to monitor vulnerable areas, including procession routes and busy junctions.
Senior police will oversee increased patrols while the state’s UP-112 emergency response vehicles are positioned strategically on high-risk roads. According to the statement, riot control equipment has to be inspected for quality and availability. If necessary, these resources should be placed in strategic areas for prompt deployment.
District police chiefs have been instructed to make sure that officers are briefed and deployed for regular inspections, as well as to activate morning inspection squads.
