Chennai Super Kings will play against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on March 28 at Chepauk. Both teams registered victories in their opening games and the fans are expecting to see a close fight. Although RCB defeated CSK in last year’s important game, the Bengaluru-based franchise hasn’t won a contest in Chennai since 2008.
MS Dhoni took the game deep but couldn’t take Chennai over the line in the 17th season as the five-time champions were eliminated from the league stage after going down to Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Former player Piyush Chawla was asked about last season’s defeat impacting the performance of MSD in the 18th season, and the veteran said:
“Past is past for MS Dhoni. He doesn’t think about the previous season, and there is no way defeat against RCB would impact his batting. When he bats deep, CSK win on most occasions, but if the team loses, it hardly matters. If he starts thinking about the past, he will not be able to perform,” Piyush Chawla said.
Chennai retained MS Dhoni for INR 4 crore in the uncapped player’s category for the next three seasons, and the former skipper has expressed his desire to continue playing for the team.
