RCB vs. CSK: Virat Kohli has been praised by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batting coach Dinesh Karthik, who has highlighted the Indian superstar’s unshakable dedication to greatness. Karthik stressed in his remarks on Thursday how Kohli’s unwavering work ethic keeps setting new records and motivating his teammates.
Karthik, who just resigned after the 2024 Indian Premier League and joined RCB as a coach, said that Kohli’s desire for achievement hasn’t waned. The former India wicketkeeper-batter praised Kohli’s commitment, saying the legendary cricket player never stops trying to become better and elevate his own game.
He wanted to work on one more shot even today, as I was leaving. In reference to the RCB vs. CSK match, the former India wicketkeeper-batter said, “Working on one more shot at this point in time tells you the hunger that he has in his mindset.”
“He just wants to become better and keep becoming better. He is thus a unique player. Additionally, he is batting as comfortably and effectively as he has ever done in the IPL right now, in my opinion.”
Karthik downplayed his recent difficulties with spin as well.
In the Champions Trophy, he’s making some impressive runs. In recent years, he has performed well while batting against spin, particularly in white-ball cricket. I don’t want to go too much into statistics, Karthik said.
“I don’t know much. However, I seem to recall that he scored runs when they were needed in the World Cup final. Aside from that, he had a strong campaign and finished second in terms of runs scored (fifth) in the Champions Trophy.
“And that doesn’t happen without playing spin because he was extremely conscious of how beneficial it was for the spinners in Dubai, as you are all aware. Therefore, I think he is hitting better than ever right now.”
In the previous 16 years, RCB has never defeated CSK at home. When Rajat Patidar and his team play the five-time previous champions in Chepauk on Friday, they will once more be put to the test of their spin.
Karthik said, “I don’t think there’s any problem,” when asked whether the RCB hitters had trouble playing spin. We played one game, which was quite different from the one we played the year before. I think that our ability to play spin is one of our advantages. And you’ll see that as this tournament progresses.
“CSK undoubtedly has three talented spinners. However, we also have reliable, skilled batsmen who are excellent hitters. Their skill at spin is one of the reasons we chose them.
