BBC News halted for major King Charles breaking news health update

BBC News halted regular broadcasting to issue an update on this evening. The newsreader explained that had shared that the 76-year-old monarch has cancelled his public engagements for Friday after experiencing temporary side effects during ongoing cancer treatment.

They added: "Tomorrow, he was due to undertake four public engagements in Birmingham and is greatly disappointed to be missing them on this occasion.

"He very much hopes that they can rescheduled in due course and offers his deepest apologies to all those who had worked so hard to make the planned visit possible."

King Charles was diagnosed with cancer early last year, with Buckingham Palace informing the public last February. One of BBC's newsreaders offered a message of "reassurance" to viewers as they confirmed: "He was seen in public yesterday in Somerset House in London for an event there, looking fit and well and smiling."

They added that regular updates from Buckingham Palace over the past year have showed that "things are moving in a positive direction and it is a managed condition." However, "the treatment cycle will continue into next year".
