Two young visionaries from IIT Roorkee, Shashank Kumar and Harshil Mathur, have etched their names in India’s history as the youngest billionaires at age 34.

Co-founders of Razorpay, the duo has reached a net worth of Rs 8,643 crore each, as per the Hurun Global Rich List 2025. Their achievement highlights India’s booming startup ecosystem and the meteoric growth of the fintech sector.

Their journey began in 2014, aiming to simplify online payments in India. Razorpay swiftly gained traction and secured funding from global investors, achieving a valuation of $7.5 billion in 2021. Today, the company is recognized as one of India’s leading digital payment solutions providers.

India’s billionaire count has risen to 284, according to the Hurun Global Rich List, underscoring positive economic trends. Among the notable figures, Mukesh Ambani experienced a decline in wealth due to rising debt levels, while Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Pune continue to foster billionaire entrepreneurs.

The success of Razorpay exemplifies the potential of India’s fintech sector and the contributions of young innovators to the nation’s prosperity.
